SNOWMOBILE TRAIL BRUSHING SPECIFICATIONS:

"Trail sponsors are required to meet the following specifications in order for their work to be eligible for reimbursement:"

  • Maintain trails at a brushed width of 14' to 16'.

  • Clear trail to a minimum height of 12 feet above the expected groomed trail snow depth at the edge of the trail, not just the middle.

  • Trees shall be pruned back flush to the main branch or cut flush with ground level.

  • Remove brush to maintain clear view of all signs.

We are brushing to save on equipment repairs and to provide wider, safer trails for riders.. Windshields, Mirrors, Lights, and wiper arms are very expensive to replace on groomers.

Remember the branches hang much lower with snow on them.

Take out leaning trees from the trail sides instead of just cutting off branches.

WIDE TRAILS LIKE THE RAILROAD GRADE AND SEASONAL ROADS SHOULD BE BRUSHED WIDE ENOUGH TO ALLOW DOUBLE WIDTH GROOMING WHERE POSSIBLE.

Planning a weekend or 2 with your team is easier when you have all year to make it happen.

The trail that looks clear when brushing often look like this when it snows...
